Sweet Sesame Beef & Garlic Butter French Beans

4:09 AM

I wanted something quick on one Sunday after a heavy night out in town and rice seemed like a great option. However, my tastebuds were craving for something that tastes cleaner and healthier than the usual fried rice or mixed rice so I decided to make something with the beef we bought on Friday. I also bought some organic sesame seeds to cook the beef with and I've always wanted to try cooking Korean style sweet Sesame Beef anyway. Since I'm not a fan of veggies inside my beef, I opted for Garlic Butter French Beans on the side and yes, you can cook these in one skillet.

Garlic Butter French Beans

While cooking the beans, you should marinade the beef. See below for marinating ingredients.

1. Drop one spoonful of butter on a heated skillet, let it bubble and drop 5 cloves of chopped garlic.
2. Let the garlic brown and toss a handful of french beans, coating it with the simmering butter.
3. Sprinkles some salt and pepper, mix well.
4. Remove from pan once the garlic becomes crispy, set aside.

Sesame Beef

Marinade - Marinade 200-300g of sliced beef in generous dashes of Lea & Perrins sauce, 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 teaspoons of sugar and some meat tenderiser (optional).

1. Brown 3 cloves of garlic and half of one red onion in the same pan, using the butter leftovers from the beans. Stir in sliced beef into the pan and let it cook.
2. Throw a handful of sesame seeds in and stir occasionally. Sprinkle 2 tablespoon of sugar.
3. Add in sliced carrots and zucchini (optional) and stir well with beef until fully cooked.
4. Remove pan from heat, toss more sesame seeds on top of the dish to garnish.

Serve this dish with Japanese rice (with or without the sushi rice vinegar) or brown rice for the health nut.

Bon appétit!
