Salmon Cream Pasta with Smoked Salmon
3:41 AM
As usual, I'm all about quick eats cause I always have things to do in between so cooking for more than 1.5 hours is not really an option on a daily basis. If you want to have a nice pasta meal but don't want to spend too much time, or just want to impress your partner on their birthday or your anniversary, just use this simple recipe to whip up your own cream pasta. You will never go wrong with this one.
I've always thought making cream pasta from scratch is a hassle, until point8cam's mum taught me the easier way. It doesn't beat the egg carbonara made from scratch but it's still a great substitute.
ingredients:
1. Pasta of choice
2. A nice cut of salmon from the supermarket (de-boned) or smoked salmon
3. A clove of garlic
4. Half of large yellow onion (sliced) optional
5. Salt & Pepper to taste
6. Dried Parsley/Oregano leaves
7. Olive Oil
8. A pack of thickening cream/ cooking cream
How to cook:
1. Boil the pasta in a separate pot until it's done, no need to strain water.
2. In a separate pan, sauté the garlic and onion in two tablespoons of olive oil until golden (some prefer it slightly raw so it's up to your preference)
3. Add the salmon that has been cut into tiny chunks (without the bone). You can crush it with your ladle into smaller pieces until it turns pink.
4. Scoop the pasta from the pot, a little bit of pasta water is fine. Mix it together.
5. Add in the thickening cream/cooking cream and mix it together. The amount of cream depends on your preference too.
6. Turn the heat down. Add in salt & pepper to taste, and dried parsley, mix them well and serve hot.
You can try this creamy pasta with almost anything. Just substitute the salmon with other things like bacon, beef slices or even seafood.
